Zachary's journey began October 19th, 2000 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Zachary attended school in Wesleyville, Mount Pearl and completed grades 9-11 in Flatrock. He was a bright, articulate young man who often finished the year on the honour roll. He was a cadet for four years with the St. John's Army Royal Canadian Cadet Core 2515, and spent three consecutive summers at Camp Argonaut in New Brunswick. Zachary was very proud to be returning this summer as a staff cadet.

In the summer of 2016, Zachary traveled to Europe with his cadet core to attend the Beaumont Hamel celebrations. Through cadets Zachary participated in many expeditions and ceremonies.

Zachary was the best big brother to his younger siblings Alex and baby sister, Sophia. He had a number of talents, interests, and hobbies. Some of these included his passion for music, playing the piano, singing, participating in several talent shows, taking lessons, enjoying his personal recording studio, composing, and even breakdancing. He was always known to have a set of earbuds on hand. Zachary enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, exploring, swimming, walking, dirt biking, fishing, bonfires with s'mores and he even learned to enjoy stowing wood! He was an imaginative boy with so much creativity and expressed this through his love of story writing and drawing. A few other hobbies were his participation in junior achievements, volunteering, youth group, and relaxing while playing video games.

Mostly, Zachary loved to laugh and make others smile. However, his legacy was his voice for social justice which was evident through his daily acts of kindness and compassion.

"Don't cry because I'm gone,
Smile because I was here."
