Bill as he was known to family and friends was born in Valleyfield Newfoundland on December 14, 1940. He loved animals, always bringing home stray dogs and cats. His children were surprised with a Newfoundland pony Starla and a goat Sandy. He had a love for the outdoors, hunting and boating, but his greatest passion was fishing. He was never without his fishing pole handy to cast a few lines.

His career as a master plumber, led him to his own business and later a career with the government of Newfoundland, from which he retired. His job allowed him to travel the island and it often led him to the area where he grew up. He met many strangers along the way, but never left without a new friend. With a side grin he would always say "Hi, I'm Bill Lush from Valleyfield, and your name is?" That question would always leave them with a connection to him. After his retirement he was always just a phone call away for handiwork or plumbing for family and friends.

His summers always consisted of piling the children into their station wagon to head out camping or for many visits to Valleyfield. They were trapped in the car listening to country music and Newfie tunes for every trip.  Fishing, Caplin runs and visiting family were exciting times and of course, any chance to wet a line.

Special thanks to the staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander NL and Dr.Y.K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield NL, where he received excellent care. Thanks to his brother John (Pauline), nephew Jeff, sister Ann, niece Phylis and special friends; Joyce and Lily, who were always there to help with his care.

Cremation has taken place and as per Bill's request there will be no service.

A Celebration of life will be held Monday September,11 at 11:00 am starting at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove

and then proceeding to Valleyfield United Cemetery for Inurnment, with Rev. Daka officiating.

The tales you told about each catch,
its stature and its girth,
will live in memories unmatched,
as days pass here on earth.
Until we meet again, one day,
upon God's Golden Sand,
We'll picture you no other way,
than a pole in hand.
