It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one on Thursday, August 18th, 2022 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Clyde Wayne Best age 70 years of Valleyfield.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents Clyde and Lily Best. In-laws Bruce Cross (Rhoda), Florence Piercy and Ena Spurrell.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 44 years Jean; children Shannon (Jerry Knee) of Gander, Sheena (Jason Noseworthy) of Grand Falls-Windsor, and Sean (Victoria Nguyen) of Vancouver; his brother Calvin (Donald Beaubier) of St. John's; his sister Beverley (Warwick Burridge) of Kitchener; Grand-children Lily, August, Layla and Beckett. In-laws Joan Norris (Al Kean), Junior Piercy, Lloyd Spurrell (Elsie), Earl Spurrell (Christine), Barry Spurrell, Brian Spurrell (Lillian), Christine Kean (Robert), Jim Spurrell (Terry Hussey) and Joy Oldford (Paul) and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Wayne was born on March 20, 1952 in Humber Mouth, Corner Brook. After graduating from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce, he met the love of his life Jean Spurrell. They moved with their three children to Valleyfield where he began his 32 year career as an accountant for Beothic Fish Processors Ltd. Wayne was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years and was the central treasurer for the United Church Wesleyville-Valleyfield pastoral charge. He was an avid outdoors person who loved fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed collecting, reading, games, puzzles, sports and, most of all, spending time with his four grandchildren, who he loved and adored. Wayne brightened the lives of everyone around him with his warm smile and playful personality. He will be forever missed.
Public visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Saturday, August 20th from 2:30 - 4 p.m. & 7 -9 p.m.; Sunday, August 21st from 2 - 4 p.m.
At Wayne's request cremation will take place followed by a funeral service at Memorial United Church, Valleyfield on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Limon Daka, assisted by Rev. George Kean.
As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted. Donations received in Wayne's memory to the Best family will be given to a charity of their choice.
Wearing of mask during visitation is not mandatory but highly recommended.
