It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, Seymour John Gates age 74 years of Brookfield, NL.

Seymour spent 32 years working with Marine  Atlantic on the Gulf Service as a Quarter Master, working two on and two weeks off. He loved going out on the water in his boat; fishing and birding, he  just loved "being on the water" His family meant everything to him!

Predeceased by his parents; Duncan and Victoria Gates, daughter; Tina and parents-in-law; Peter and Maggie Burry.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife; Rosalie (Burry) Gates, son; Justin of Brookfield, special grandson; Ethan of Athabasca, Alberta, and his dad Paul Deveau, brothers; Cator (Cindy) of Brookfield, Calvin (Shirley) of Brookfield, and a large circle of other relatives and  many friends.

Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2 P.M. - 2 :30 P.M. (Family Only), 2:30 P.M. - 4 P.M. (Public)  & 7 P.M. - 9 P.M (Public)

Funeral service will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 2 P.M. with Majors Robert and Cassie Kean officiating. An Inurnment  will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Seymour's memory to The Gates Family, they will decide on monetary disbursements at a later date.
