Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruby Ella (Chaulk) Stokes announces her peaceful passing into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the age of 88, with her family by her side.

She was the devoted daughter of the late Nehemiah and Jessie (Noble) Chaulk. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, respected aunt, and a loyal friend to many. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Elmore; her infant daughter Vera Jane; brothers Cyril (Martha), Carl, Carmen, Jack (Emma), and Freeman (Winnifred); sisters Ethel (Peter Stokes) and Sybil (Lindsay Bemister).

Ruby leaves to mourn with many precious memories are her daughter Kerry-Lynn (Wade Waterman), and two grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Danielle and Brandon; sisters Yvonne (Edgar Pardy), Beulah (Beaton Abbott), and baby sister (as she referred to) Jane (Maxwell Goodyear); sister-in-law Janet Chaulk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family to her.

Ruby came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour on July 28, 1968 and was steadfast in her faith serving her Lord for over 50 years. The family finds comfort in the assurance that she is now home with her Lord in heaven.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Nightingale Manor, Gander, for their kind and compassionate care over the last 2 and half years.  Mom often said the staff were incredibly good to her, and she loved them.  A special thanks is also extended to the staff at the Carmelite House, Grand Falls – Windsor, for their dedication to Mom and for the support they provided to our family in her final days while she was in palliative care.

Visitation will be at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove, on December 7, 2024, from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2 pm at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove, and burial will follow at the Gospel Hall Cemetery in Deadman's Bay.

Flowers are gratefully accepted as expressions of sympathy, or donations may be made to the Gander Bay Gospel Hall, in lieu of flowers.
