Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Central NL Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, Ronald Spencer Hewitt age 93 years of Centreville, NL.

Ron was 1 of 13 children born to Mary-Ann and William Hewitt of Barr'd Islands, Fogo Island. Ron married Rebecca Pickett on October 3, 1949, in Greenspond, NL. They had 5 children, Mildred, Joyce, Priscilla, Chris, and Mollie. Unfortunately, their first-born child, Mildred, died at 2 years old in 1952. Additionally, he was a loving father to his first grandchild, Veronica.

Ron was a loving grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather and his arms were always open to embrace them all with love. He enjoyed their hugs and kisses and cherished their pictures and artwork that was displayed proudly around his home.

From the young age of 10 to when he retired at 65, Ron worked at various jobs and companies throughout NL and Western Canada. Carpentry was his passion, and he was always working on a wood project for someone.

From childhood he was a faithful servant of his church community until sickness prevented him to continue. In his late years he had special friends and caregivers who brought joy and laughter to his life while playing cards or sharing a story. His family are his legacy to carry on loving, supporting, and respecting each other with ties that bind.

"Please don't cry for me. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, family, friends, and a good life." Ronald's quote.
