It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one at Gander Long Term Care on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 Robert William Rhude age 83 years.
Predeceased by his parents Robert and Hannah Rhude, two sons David Rhude and Jeffrey Hicks ,two brothers George Rhude and Dan Rhude, grandson Matthew Abbott.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Mollie of 37yrs, three sons Allan Rhude(Fran), Todd Rhude(Lisa) and Troy Rhude(Kelly) all of Nova Scotia, three daughters Cindy Gagnier(Dwayne) of Ontario, Rhonda Simms(Clyde) of Musgrave Harbour, Vivian Whiteway(Paul) of Musgrave Harbour, two brothers Charlie Rhude(Florrie) of Costa Rica and John Rhude(Marielle) of Ontario, eight grandchildren Deacon, Jordis, Hannah, Tessa, Warren, Sarah, Leah and Laura, two great-grandchildren and also a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Visitations will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour Thursday 7pm - 9pm, Friday 2pm - 4pm; 7pm - 9pm. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, July 6th at 11am from The Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour. Interment to follow from The Salvation Army Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour with Major Bill Kean officiating.
Robert William Rhude, known to all as Bill. Born in Sackville, New Brunswick to Hannah and Robert "Bert" Rhude. Bill grew up in New Brunswick who later trained to become an aircraft engineer. Bill had a passion for all things aviation. He started his career in Moncton, NB where he then moved onto work with Eastern Provincial Airways, Canadian Airlines and later Air Canada.
Bill met the love of his life Mollie in 1986. They then married in 1987 and moved wherever the aviation industry took them. Eventually they settled and retired in Gander, NL where Bill enjoyed his passion for hunting and fishing. Bill loved Newfoundland which made it easy to become his home.
Bill was known for his kind heart and helping hand. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was adored by all. Bill will be deeply missed by family and friends.
