It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one at The Health Sciences Center, St. John's on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 Raymond Thornton age 73 years of Wareham.

Ray was born in Toronto to Charles Raymond and Winnifred Thornton. He is predeceased by his brothers Lance(Linda) and Bud; sister Wendy (Tony).

Ray was the beloved husband of Jean for 53 years. A loving devoted father to Jason (Jen) and also a caring and loving grandfather to Ariel.

He will be sadly missed by his siblings Fern (Terry) Dunn, Mark (Heather) Thornton, Robin (the late Diane) Thornton, Penny (Clay) Harnum, Mike (Joanna) Thornton, Lucienna (Fred) Sass, Faith (Ralph) Harrison and Carol (the late Jim) McGrath.

Ray and Jean moved from Ontario to Centreville, NL in 1993. He retired from General Motors and decided to build their home here on the "Rock".

He became very active in the community, always willing to help anyone in need. Whether called upon or not he helped at the Lions Club community functions, grooming trails, calling Bingo and the Town Council for 8 years. Always a great sense of humor.

He will surely be missed by all who knew him.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 2 P.M. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Raymond's memory to The Thornton family, they will decide at a later date on monetary disbursements .
