It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Loretta Hancock (née Tulk), age 85, of Ladle Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, on July 2, 2026.

Born on March 29, 1941, in Aspen Cove, NL, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of Bert and Olive Tulk. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family touched all who knew her.

In April 1965, Phyllis married the love of her life, Ellis Hancock. Together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Phyllis will be remembered for her caring nature, generous spirit, resilience, and deep devotion to her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Garland(Jean), Linda(Homer), Paul(Bobette), and Pauline; daughter-in-law Christine; grandchildren Chevonne, Michael, Tamara, Ryan, Otto, Joshua, Adrian, and Hope; and great-grandchildren Makayla, Annabella, Karaleigh, Mavrick, Greyson, and Zoey.

She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Verna and Daphne (Gerald); her brother David (Rhonda); brother-in-law Austin (Pansy); as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband Ellis Hancock; her son Trevor Hancock; great-grandson Pacey; her parents Bert and Olive Tulk; her brother Newman Tulk; sister-in-law Daphne Leitch; brother-in-law Carson Peddle; sister-in-law Jewel Tulk; and first husband Walter “Tot” Tulk.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to those who provided care, comfort, and support to Phyllis throughout her later years.

A funeral service celebrating Phyllis's life will be held at Bethel United Church, Aspen Cove, NL, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Matthews officiating. Interment to follow at United Church cemetery in Ladle Cove.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis's memory may be made to the James Paton Memorial Hospital Cancer Centre, Gander @ https://cancercarefoundation.ca/donate/in-memory/ or a charity of one's choice.
