It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one. Percy passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville, Ontario, surrounded by family, at the age of 81 years.
Percy is predeceased by his parents Ira and Hilda (Nee Lush), daughters Sheila and Baby Girl Rideout, grandson Sheldon Gill, brother Eli Rideout and sister Elizabeth Yates.
Percy leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 60 years, the love of his life, Rebecca, daughters: Colleen (Terry), Hilda (Jim), Sereta and Clarissa (Giles), grandchildren: Brandon (Amanda), Joshua (Dale), Kayla, Kyle (Jenny), Tyler (Grayson), Bradley (Amanda) and Sarah (Tyler), great grandchildren: Audrey, Lennon, Calvin, Taytum, Skyler and Everleigh, brothers Fred (Yvonne), Bill (Marilyn) and Melvin (Priscella), sisters: Minnie Wicks and Sadie (Ralph Brown), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Percy worked at Molson Brewery in St.John's, as a stationary engineer for 13 years. His family left the island in 1975 to pursue his career at Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City. His peers recognized and respected him for his hard work and integrity.
He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife and girls as well as his family and friends. His quiet demeanor and quick wit will surely be missed. His beautiful smile will forever be etched in our memories.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at St. Alban's Anglican Church, Trinity, B.Bay, at 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. and 7 P.M. - 9 P.M.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Alban's Anglican Church Cemetery, Trinity.
As an expression of sympathy and In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Percy's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
