It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathaniel (Junior) Goodyear, who left us surrounded by his family at the age of 92 on January 13th, 2026.

Left to mourn with loving memories sons: Edison, Richard (Michelle), and Timothy (Arlene); granddaughters: Sally (Matthew), Pamela (Matthew), Cassandra (Cody), Chante (Michael), Katelyn, and Rebecca; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Chloe, Matthew and Maisie; sister-in-law Viola, family friend Tammy, a large extended family and many other friends.

Predeceased by parents Elsie and Nathaniel Goodyear; wife Maisie, siblings; Bessie (Norman), Ethel (Clyde), Lemuel, Cecil (Maude), Ralph (Evelyn), Katherine (Maxwell), Nina (Douglas), Audrey (Harold), Roland (Kathleen), Nita, and Eugene.

Nathaniel was born in Lumsden on November 27th, 1933.  At the age of 16 he went to work with J. Goodyear's and Sons Limited.  He spent the majority of his years with this company as an equipment operator.  He went on to work with various construction companies over the course of his career.

After retirement he went on to become an avid gardener.   With his life partner Maisie he spent countless hours in the garden growing vegetables that they shared with family and friends.  He kept up this hobby for the majority of his life.

Visitation  for family and friends will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove , NL

Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 2 P.M. - 4 P.M.  & 7 P.M. - 9 P.M.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 2:30 P.M. at the Wesley United Church, Lumsden with Rev. Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at the Wesley United Church Cemetery, Lumsden, NL
