Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at  Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield, NL,  Mary Rogers age 98 years of Wareham, NL.

"Mary Rogers(nee Cutler) was born on Fair island, Bonavista Bay on July 5, 1923 to Robert Cutler and Edith Blanche(nee Picket), Her mom died when Mary was very young and her grandmother, Robert's mother, looked after her for a few years when he went off to Vermont to work. He returned home in 1929 and married Grandmother(Tamar) Cutler soon after. They moved "up the bay" to Wareham in 1931 and mother spent the rest of her life in that community.
Mother married Frank Rogers and they had 7 children, one of whom, Norman, died shortly after birth. Frank contracted an illness and was sick for several years, passing away in 1958. During those years mother struggled valiantly to look after Frank and her young family. Our oldest sister, Blanche, by necessity, became like a second mother to most of the younger siblings. Mother married Gilbert Rogers in late 1959 and 3 children resulted from that union. Gilbert died in 1991 and mother spent a few years on her own, until Blanche and Ellis came back from Ontario in 1996, and she resided with them up to the time of her recent hospitalization and subsequent passing.
Mother and Gilbert spent a considerable amount of time with her children for many years and had a chance to help in the care of many of the grandchildren. She was happiest doing that, knitting hundreds of pairs of socks, playing cards, etc. and always made sure she knew where all of her grown offspring were at all times. For that reason, we called her our "Traffic Director". She was the glue that held us all together and will be sadly and sorely missed.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons; Cyril (Ruby), Churence (Yvonne),Roland (Jennita), Russell (Elaine), Glenn (Diane), Eric (Teresita), daughters; Blanche (Ellis), Glenda (Lee), Florence (Jack), grandchildren; Lyndon (Chris), Ian (Stephanie), Dan (Colette), Trevor (Terri), Nisha, Lee (Erica), Sonya, Patrick (Miranda), Gavin (Tanya), Kimberlee, Rebecca, Alex, Naomi, Tony (Ellen), Brad (Kelli) Michael (Christina), Ashley (Paul), Adam, great grandchildren; Emma, Thomas, Morgan, Max, Mason, Rhys, Kate, Owen, Gabe, Liam, Jayden, Taylor, Jasmin, Lilly, Owen, brothers; Bill (Louise), Cliff (Audrey), Clayton (Ellen), Lemuel Pickett, sister; Susie (Claude), nephews and nieces; Maxine, Gus, Velma, Tina, Michael, Jamie, Christopher, Germaine, Gary and a large circle of other relatives and many friends.
