Maggie was a true testament of what it was to be a devout Christian with a very deep
attachment to her church. She was the pillar of our family, and her presence will be
greatly missed.
Her greatest blessings were her family. She never missed a birthday or anniversary. If
there was one greeting card you could count on, it was one from her.
She spent her days knitting, playing cards, phoning loved ones, and watching the Blue
Jays play baseball during the season.
When you would visit the kettle was always on and some homemade sweets were put
on the table to share. You were welcome to anything she had. Although, you were best
to hold unto your plate, as she loved washing the dishes and was quick to take you
plate.
When Maggie wasn't at home or visiting family, you were sure to find her in her second
home, her church. She took great pride in keeping the church in pristine condition, still
washing the church clothes up until she went into the home. She was also an active
member of the ACW.
Indian Bay sits quietly on the river and that's exactly where Maggie loved to be. She
had such a love for her community and its people. She loved to celebrate any
community events and supported every fundraiser. She also loved to give back to many
non profit organizations by collecting donations and talking part in walk a thons.
If there was any little detail or date you wanted to know, Maggie was the one to ask.
Even in recent years as her dementia took some of the details away, give her a little
time and she would remember.
We may have been her greatest blessing, but it was her who was the best blessing of
all. Mom/Nan/Big Nan, you will forever be missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cutler for his care of Mom throughout the years. Also,
The staff at Oram's Emmanuel Manor in Gambo & Dr Kamel for their recent care. A special thank you to moms home care workers, Melissa and Keayra. Much
thanks to the staff of JPMH Third Floor Medical Care Unit, especially Dr Al dulaimi, for
all you have done for Mom in her final days. Her care was second to none. We are
forever grateful.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Indian Bay, NL at 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. - 7 P.M. - 9 P.M. and on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. and 7 P.M. - 9 P.M.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 2 P.M. at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Indian Bay with Rev. Daphne Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Indian Bay.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to The Hunt Family, they will decide at a later date on monetary disbursements.
