Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Dr. Y.K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield, Mabel Celeste Stokes age 90 years of Lumsden.

Mabel was predeceased by parents Eldon and Pearl Goodyear, husband Newman, siblings George, Baxter, Sidney, Blanche and Violet, sons-in-law Lloyd Brown and Harry Sheppard, daughters-in-law Joan Stokes and Brenda Janes, brother-in-law Harold Weste, sisters-in-law Mary Goodyear, Phyllis Goodyear and Linda Goodyear, nephews Jeff Goodyear and Ryan Goodyear and nephew-in-law Wayne Gillingham.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories her 9 children; Earl (Sue), Leslie (Wally), Verna, Louise (Alvin), Danny (Margaret), Pauline (Morrison), Ernest (Danette), Terry (Tammy) and Kim (Clyde). Grandchildren Tracy, Trevor, Trent, Trudy, Todd, Gina, Dean, Darrin, Cherelyn, Melissa, Travis, Joshua, Jared, Hannah, Jared A., Daniel, Gillian and Tyler as well as 25 great-grandchildren.

Also leaving to mourn, her siblings Harvey (Celma), Carson (Ruby), Winston (Barbara), Newman (Mildred), Lawrence (Goldie), Leo (Joan), and sister Lorraine (Seward) who was also a special friend.  Lorraine spent many hours chatting on the phone and made frequent visits with Mabel at Otterbury Manor. Mabel also had a large number of nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Saturday, December 18 at 7pm - 9 pm (Family)

Sunday, 7pm - 9pm (Public)

Monday, 2pm - 4pm & 7pm - 8pm (Public) & 8pm - 9pm (Family)

Funeral service will be by invitation only and will take place on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 1030am at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove with Rev. Lorne Bungay officiating. Internment will follow from the United Church cemetery, Lumsden.

As an expression of sympathy and in her memory, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Wesley United Church, Lumsden.

Visitation and Funeral service will be in accordance to Covid-19 recommendations and guidelines. As a friendly reminder, please have your Vaxpass available upon request.
