It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, Mabel Rogers age 88 years of Centreville,NL

Predeceased by her husband; Alan Rogers, parents; Dorcas and Manuel Rogers, parents-in-law; Gladys and John Rogers,son-in-law; John Hynes, brother; Eli Rogers (his wife Geraldine residing in Brig Bay), brother-in-law; Robert Pickett and sister-in-law; Eileen Hunt.

Raised on the saltwater of Round Harbour and a loving sister to seven siblings; Stuart (Esther), Edgar (Marjorie), David, Adelaide, Myrtle (Ambrose) and Sandra (Norm).

 Mabel Rogers spent her days helping whoever needed it. As the second oldest, she became more than just a big sister, she was a cherished piece of sunshine. She carried many titles throughout her life and was known as Aunt Mabel and Great-Aunt Mabel to many.

Mabel met the love of her life, Alan Rogers of Fair Island, and together they started their own family. They shared a beautiful love story and celebrated 54 years of marriage before Alan passed away in 2011. The family they built together was Mabel’s greatest joy.

It was a joy she had the privilege of watching grow across four generations. First came their four children: Glenda, Lloyd, Craig, and Elizabeth. Then came their daughters-in-law, Donna and Joan, and the two who were always competing for the title of favourite son-in-law, Ray and John. Her children loved her beyond measure. Her home remained their home, no matter their age. A place where everyone was welcome and no one ever left hungry.

Then came her ten grandchildren. If you ever stepped inside her home, you would have seen their pictures lining the hallway. She was endlessly proud of each and every one of them: Shelley, Ashley, Rhonda, Janetta, Katherine, Steven, Kimberly, Stephanie, Jolissa, and John. She had a way of making every grandchild and great-grandchild feel special. You were either one of Nan’s boys or one of Nan’s girls, the very first title many of us were ever given, and still the most treasured title we’ve ever held.

She celebrated every achievement, every milestone, and offered unwavering support through every moment. She loved their partners as her own. She taught us the importance of living off the land. She was the ultimate storyteller. Always watching out for us and sometimes bawling at us to get down off whatever we weren’t suppose to be climbing.

Then came her great-grandchildren: Jake, Jenna, Nathan, Kaci, Sarah, Wes, Luke, Ben, Jake, Emma, Mabel-Rose, and Sloane. Every single one of them was loved just as fiercely as her children and grandchildren. A family growing exponentially, and Mabel was truly the centerpiece.

You didn’t have to be her grandchild to feel her warmth. She made a lasting mark by simply being herself. Kind, generous, warm, and gentle. Mabel poured love into everything she did. Her quilts fill our closets and beds. Her snowball and cinnamon bun recipes are tucked away in our kitchens. Her knitted slippers warm all our feet. Simple gifts, but pieces of her that will always remain with us. Mabel found joy in nature. Picking berries, tending flowers and vegetables, and occasionally running from bears and horses. She made friends wherever she went and had a gift for making people feel welcome.

Mabel wasn’t given a middle name when she was born, but her name was given twice during her lifetime. First to her granddaughter, Katherine Mabel, and later to her great-granddaughter, Mabel-Rose. Both proudly carry her beautiful name and, with it, the essence of her kind and generous spirit.

To know her was to love her. And to be loved by her was one of life’s greatest blessings.

 She is now resting at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville,NL

Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 7 PM - 9 PM and on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 10 AM - 11 A.M.

The funeral service will follow on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 2 PM with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at St. Barnabas Anglican Church Cemetery Centreville ,NL
