Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lucy Whitten of Wareham, who passed away at the age of 72 at Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield on Friday, April 3, 2026, surrounded by a circle of loving family members.

Leaving to mourn with broken hearts and treasured memories are her loving son David Whitten, and her two adored grandsons, Aidan and Mason Whitten (their mother Bernetta Green).

She also leaves behind her sisters: Lorraine (Clyde) Hunt of Wareham, Beatrice (Fred) Hunt of Wareham, Pauline (Lorne) Hunt of Wareham, Emily Dyke (Willie) of Wareham, and Christine (Dean) Collins of Indian Bay; and her brothers: Oliver Pickett of Indian Bay and Joe (Rosalind) Pickett of Indian Bay. Also leaving to mourn ,sisters-in-law; Wanda Pickett and Lillian Pickett of Indian Bay, brothers-in-law; Gerry Whitten (Regina) of St. John's, Doug Whitten (Diane) of St. John's and sister-in-law; Jean Harris of St. John's

Lucy will be deeply missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, as well as her friend, Ross.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Daniel Whitten, her parents Richard and Mary Pickett of Indian Bay, and her cherished brothers; Kenneth Pickett and James Pickett and also predeceased by parents-in-law; Dan and Emaline Whitten, brothers-in-law; Hubert Whitten, Eric Whitten , sisters-in-law; Mae Murphy and Lorraine Whitten

Visitation and funeral service will take place at St. John The Baptist Anglican Church, Wareham

Visitation; Monday, 4pm - 6pm (Family Only) & 7pm - 9pm (Public)

Tuesday, 2pm - 4pm & 7pm - 9pm

Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 2pm with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at the Anglican cemetery, Wareham.

Lu cy was a wonderful woman, kind, funny, and full of love. She had a beautiful way of bringing laughter to those around her, even in the hardest times. Her greatest joy in life was her son and her grandsons, whom she loved deeply and cherished beyond words.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
