It is with great sadness that the family of Leo Barefoot announce his passing, at the age of 85.
Leo passed away peacefully at the Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, in Brookfield, on April 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Leo, born on November 9, 1939, was the son of the late Ewart and Minnie Barefoot. Leo married Sophie (Pope) on November 10, 1959, and they raised three children together. Leo was preceded in death by his wife Sophie, on May 26, 2011, after 51 years of marriage. Leo spent his career devoting 31 years of service to the Canadian Coast Guard.

In addition to his parents Ewart and Minnie Barefoot, and wife Sophie, Leo was also predeceased by brothers Barry and Carl, and sisters Barbara, Cora and Alma.

Left with fond and loving memories are sons Eugene (Angela), Jeffery (Chrissy), daughter Joyce Starkes (Junior), granddaughters Danielle Gill (Terry), Christa Nicholl (Matthew), and great-grandchildren Abigail, Sebastian, Maelynn, Georgia, Scarlett, and Jaxton.

Also leaving to mourn are brothers Eric and Claude, sisters Nina Cahill (Mike), Elsie Howell (Art), and Margaret Carter (Roland), and a large circle of nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at St. James Anglican Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre for the care he received during his short time there.
