It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Thursday, September 14, 2023, Josiah Stokes age 73 years of Wesleyville.

Predeceased by his parents Lillian and Elijah Stokes; mother and father - in law Annie and Christopher Sturge; sister Elizabeth Winsor; brother Eric Stokes; great-niece Trudy - Lynn Gill.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Sophie; daughters Sherry Lynn Gillingham (Steve) of Gander and Joanne Landry (Neil) of Wesleyville; grandchildren Mackenzie Landry (Nicole Thomas), Alissa Landry, Callie Gillingham (Jacob Traverse); great - grandson Elijah Landry; sister Beverly Stokes (Garland) of St. John's; sisters - in law Mona Bungay (Ron) of St. John's, Juanita Bragg (Mike) of Shea Heights, Leah Jefferies of Lewisporte; brothers - in law Wallace Winsor of Brookfield, Cecil Sturge (Susie) of Truro, NS; special buddy Danny Sturge (Paulette) of Wesleyville; and a large circle of other relatives and many friends.

At families request cremation has taken place.

Public visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Saturday, September 16th from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville on Sunday, September 17th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Limon Daka officating. Inurment at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Joe's memory may be made to the family. A decision on monetary disbursments will be made later.
