Josephine
Abbott
May 8, 1932 – March 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Beulah Abbott on the morning of March 3, 2025. Josie passed away peacefully due to natural causes at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, NL. Josie was 92 years old.
Predeceased by the love of her life, Wilson J. Abbott. She has finally gone to be with him. Her parents Uriel and Emmaline (Head) Mouland and step-father Lloyd Whiteway. Baby brother and sister who both died at birth and sister Marjorie (Fred) Dalton.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her four children - Lawrence, Hazel, Randal (Evelyn) and Bernard (Sandra); grandchildren – Dere k (Roxanne), Dwayne, Shelley-Lynn (Wade), Katherine, Kyle and Tyler; great grandchildren– Jacob, Benjamin, Caylie and Colson; sister Ella (Claude) Wells and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends who all loved Aunt Josie dearly.
Josie was well taken care of in her home for many years by her caretakers Olie, Gail and Linda. A special thank you to the staff of Oram's Bethesda Manor, Gander and St Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's, for their care and support of Mom/Nanny Abbott over the past few years. Josie made her adult singing debut at Orams and she sang publicly in front of all the residents and family right up to her calling to be with God.
Josie spent her years as a mother and wife and loved to cook and bake. She spent many years in Toronto to care for her mother and spend time with her two sisters after the passing of her husband. She also spent many winters in St. John's with her daughter Hazel, knitting many pairs of socks and scarves.
Josie left a lasting impression on everyone she met with her kind and gentle heart.
She was cherished by everyone who met her and will be dearly missed in a way that words cannot express.
We love you, until we meet again.
