Hubert (Hugh) John Wiley born Oct 8, 1937, died Jan 19, 2026. He was predeceased by his parents and five of his six siblings. Remaining, his wife Joanne, 3 children, Shoshanna, Kelvin and Chris, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hugh and Joanne came to Newfoundland for a 2 week holiday in 2007, fell in love with the place and never left. Pool's Island was their home and they loved the beauty of Newfoundland coupled with the incredible warmth and welcome they received and that grew over the years.

Hugh loved to learn and have experiences: from an oil well worker in his teens, later, teaching at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology,  becoming a psychologist and practicing in Alberta and BC, having experiences in business and authoring a book called Dancing with Change. He excelled at it all. He was a true "people person." His motto was "leave people better than he found them."
