May 30, 1935 – June 5, 2018
Harriett or Hattie as she was commonly known was born to Peter & Maggie Burry of Greenspond, NL. It was there that she spent her time growing up with her 12 siblings and it was there that she met the love of her life Llewellyn Oram. They were married in March 1953 and began their life together. Greenspond was their home until they moved to Badger's Quay in 1970. Together they had 4 children; Llewellyn, Elaine, Sylvia and Wade and spent 25 wonderful years together until cancer claimed his life in 1978.
Harriett married her second husband Eric Spurrell in November 1982 and they spent 21 blissful years as a couple at Badger's Quay until he passed away.
Harriett made her living at the Beothic Fish Plant for over 15 years and got along well with her co-workers. She was a quiet woman who loved to knit and crochet. One of her other favorite things to do was to spend time with her family.
Harriett is predeceased by her husbands Llewellyn Oram & Eric Spurrell; son Wade, step son Eric Spurrell Jr., her parents Peter and Maggie Burry and her sister Edith Saunders.
She leaves to mourn with fond memories her three children; Llewellyn Oram (Joan) of Pasadena, NL, Elaine Oram (Wes) of Badger's Quay and Sylvia (Fred) Janes of Badger's Quay, daughter-in-law Tanya Stokes of Pound Cove and 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her two step children; Beverly (Eric) Winsor of Badger's Quay and Trudy Harvey of St. John's and also 11 siblings as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Harriett will be missed by all those who knew her.
Resting at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Majors Osborne and Roxanne Randell officiating. Interment will follow at the Salvation Army cemetery, Wesleyville.
As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Harriett's memory may be made to the family and a decision on monetary disbursements will be made later.
Family service will take place on Thursday at 8 P.M.
