Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, NL, George Edwin Cutler age 82 years of Trinity, B.Bay, NL

Life began for George on Fair Island, Bonavista Bay, the first son of Walter & Alice M Cutler. His early childhood being spent on Fair Island with his education beginning in the small school there, where taking junks of wood for the stove was as important as taking your school books. George was a keen listener and learned quickly the social skills of life from the yarns being spun by his father and uncles every evening in the family home. Additionally, learning logging and building skills from his master carpenter grandfather, Daniel.

However, George's vision of his future took him to the big city were further education and ultimately a degree, he became a teacher. This new found skill in life took him to various schools including St. Augustine Central High School in Trinity.

While teaching he met Daphne Brown of Trinity, also a teacher. Their relationship blossomed and they married. A marriage of some 60 years, with four wonderful children, Sharon, Andy, Sheila and Michael.

He loved being outdoors when he was able, even spending time as "cookie" for a logging camp in the summer months. He enjoyed fishing, hunting cutting and hauling his wood for the winter and tending to his garden during the summer. He was a warden at St. Alban's Church, where he, along with others rejuvenated a tired church at the time. He loved to sing with the Men's Choir.

George loved to tell stories and he shared many with family and friends, ones that will be revisited during the coming days.
With that impish grin and a glint in his eye, he was always willing to share his last candy, which by the way he shared with everyone. He had many last candies to go around. At family gatherings when the cards came out, it often got very animated with fun and laughter and precious memories made.

The joy he had, as he and Daphne became ambassadors for the winter carnival was priceless, smiling and chatting with family friends and the community at the many events.

George was a wonderful soul greatly respected by many and will be dearly missed.

Predeceased by his parents Walter and Alice (Rogers) Cutler; brothers Walter Jr., David (Lucy) and Ahasuerus (Delilah); sisters Peggy, Clara (Bursell) and Josephine (Hector); brothers-in-law Lloyd Moulton and Bernard Barrow.
