It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on November 16, 2014 at The Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, George Blackwood age 92 years of Brookfield. Predeceased by parents Captain Peter and Maggie Blackwood, sisters: Julia Andrews, Marie Mullett, and Stella Howell. Leaving to mourn wife Olive, daughter Jean (Frank Whiteway), Mount Pearl, grandson Glenn (Lyanne), Fredricton, NB, granddaughter JoAnne, Chicago, IL; four precious great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Sarah, Andrew, and Ryan; brother Cyril Blackwood, Brookfield, sisters: Irene Gibbons, Badger's Quay, Pearl (Albert Kean), Pound Cove, Evelyn Winters, Calgary, AB, Marjorie Kells, Burlington, ON. Also leaving to mourn, sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Alec Janes) Mount Pearl, Carrie Hounsell, Mount Pearl, and brother-in-law Bill Howell, Templeman as well as many nieces and nephews and a circle of other relatives and friends. Visitations will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove beginning on Tuesday at 10 A.M. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Brian Hannon and Rev. George Kean officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church cemetery, Brookfield.
