Gaye was born at Brookfield Hospital on May 23, 1957 to parents Samuel and Sophie King. He lived in Safe Harbour for the first year of his life, then moved to Valleyfield where he grew up,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by son Dion, parents Samuel and Sophie King, sister Beverly and infant sister Maureen, infant brother Winston, father in-law Frederick Howell and sister in-law Yolande.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Sheila of 50 years, daughter Nicole (Shawn), his precious granddaughters Khiara and Charlotte, daughter in-law Cordale, sisters Maureen (Barry, deceased) and Lana (Wade), mother in-law Maggie Howell, 4 sisters in-law and 3 brothers in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 7 - 9 p.m.; Friday, February 13, 2026  from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 8 p.m. followed by the funeral  service at 8 p.m. with Rev. George Kean officiating.

Cremation to follow with burial at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donation in Gaye's memory may be made to the family. A decision on monetary disbursements will be made later.
