In Loving Memory of Frazer Maxwell Abbott
October 27, 1962 – April 19, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we share the passing of Frazer Maxwell Abbott, aged 62, of Musgrave Harbour, NL, who left this world peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of home and family.
Frazer was a one-of-a-kind soul – comical, kind-hearted, and full of mischief. Always ready with a joke or tall tale, he had an uncanny ability to leave people laughing, shaking their heads, and wondering how they got roped into one of his stories. He didn't just light up a room – he lit up the whole community.
Born and raised in Musgrave Harbour, Frazer became the man of the house far too soon after the passing of his father, Claude. From that young age, he took on the role with strength, humour, and a heart full of love for his family. Life took him many places – from Newfoundland to Toronto to Grand Prairie and High Level, Alberta – but no matter where he travelled, home was always on his mind. He had a deep love for the ocean, and found peace in the sound of the waves and the comfort of a small-town chat on a front step.
Frazer had many chapters in his working life – whether laying floors, renovating hotels, long liner fishing seasons, driving trucks on the ice roads or just being the guy who could fix anything. But more than this, he was the friend you called in a pinch, the one who'd make you laugh when you needed it most, and the one who always made you feel like family.
He took great pride in being a dad and granddad. His children, Ryan and Melanie, meant the world to him – even when they were provinces apart. Summers have been spent making memories: rides on the ATV, beach adventures, fishing trips, and belly laughs around the kitchen table. His grandchildren – Nicholas, Jaelynn, Avah, and Cahlym – were his little companions, his joy, and his legacy.
Frazer leaves behind, with fond and cherished memories, his loving wife and friend Ann; son Ryan of Grand Prairie, AB; daughter Melanie of Grand Prairie, AB; mother Bonnie Abbott (George) of Musgrave Harbour; grandchildren Nicholas, Jaelynn, Avah and Cahlym; brothers Eddie Abbott (Kim) of Musgrave Harbour and Dean Abbott (Shannon) of Saint Albert, AB; sisters Carolyn Hillier (Darren) of Cape Freels and Bridgette Kenny (Mark) of St. John's; along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends who will miss his laughter and big heart.
He is reunited in peace with his father Claude, brother Dwayne, sister Claudette, grandson Daniel, nephew Matthew and niece Alex.
Frazer's final moments were spent in good company at a place he dearly treasured – sharing stories, a meal, and memories around his mother's table, in the heart of the community that shaped him.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour, officiated by Major Hedley Bungay. Inurnment to follow at a later date.
To know Frazer was to love him. He was a husband, a son, a father, a brother, and a best friend. His memory will live on in the laughs we share, the stories we tell, and the love that remains.
Rest easy, Frazer. You've earned it.
