Eunice (Nicie) Cook

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Nicie (Eunice) Cook, aged 87. Nicie was born in Indian Bay on January 12th, 1939 and passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Dr, Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Center, Brookfield, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Nicie is predeceased by her daughter Paula Bernadette, parents Samuel John and Mary Jane Hunt, brother John Hunt (Geraldine), sister Doris Hunt, sister-in-law Chloe Hunt, brothers-in-law Piercy Bungay, Richard Parsons and Kenneth Pickett, father-in-law Stewart Cook, mother-in-law Beatrice Cook, brothers-in-law Gordon Cook, William Cook (Carrie), Ralph Cook (Marie).

Left to cherish her precious memories are her beloved husband Jack (John) Cook, daughters Judy Lane (Barry), Ruth Perry (Rodney) and Jackie Parsons (Wayne), grandchildren Barry Lane (Nikki), Bradley Lane (Amanda), Paula Gill (Tim), Jasmine Lane, Jeanine Perry (David), Janice Parsons and Lucas Parsons(Haley) and two very special people that she considers one of her own Justin (Jack) and Brittany (Willow) Parsons, great grandchildren Cameron, Alicia, Mya, Dawson, Gorje, Raelynn, Jack, Denver, Lailah, Daxton, Wren and Evie, godchildren Brandy Oldford and Vondelle Cook, brothers Jesse Hunt(Susie), Wilfred Hunt(Irene), Peter Hunt, Clyde Hunt, Tony Hunt and Terry Hunt, sisters Clara Bungay, Ruby Parsons and Wanda Pickett, sisters-in-law, Gertie and Maude Cook and an extended circle of friends.

In life, we all know people who leave a meaningful footprint, and in Nicie's case, she left so many. She was always there for those who needed her, especially Jack and her three daughters. In her own words, "I have the best husband, daughters, and grandchildren in the world. Nicie had a wonderful sense of humor and was very funny. She had a special gift for making people laugh, often when they needed it most. She also had the passion and ability to stay in touch with all her dear friends and family members. If there was music, dancing, a good laugh, and a dollar store in the mix, she was completely in her element. Nicie had a real gift for baking, especially her partridgeberry tarts. She spent countless hours in the kitchen wearing her step-ins over her head while preparing tarts, just in case somebody stopped by - a perfect example of the humor and fun she brought to everyday life. She was also an active member of the ACW and faithfully attended church every Sunday. Her love for Christmas was infectious and she spread Christmas joy to all those around her, wrapping and delivering gifts into the wee hours of Christmas Eve making sure everyone she knew had a special gift from her. One of Nicies greatest loves was animals, especially cats and her special dog "Chico." It was not uncommon for Nicie to leave food out on her front porch, making sure that no hungry cat went without a meal. Her kindness extended to every animal she encountered, and her compassion was a beautiful reflection of the caring person she was.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all her home care support workers (Christa Parsons, Lori Hawkins, Ocean Rogers, Pam Feltham, Shanelle Janes, Shelby Hawkins, Brandy Oldford, Sabrina Oldford, Megan Feltham) over the past ten years while she battled with dementia. A special thanks to Reverent Maxine for providing her with church service in her home and all of her visits. We would also like to thank the staff at Brookfield Hospital for their continued care and support for Nicies time in palliative care. We love you our precious and beautiful angel, Nicie.

Public Visitation: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 7 pm-9 pm; Wednesday September 23, 2026, 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm followed by a family service.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 2 pm with Rev. Maxine Abbott officiating. Interment to follow at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Cemetery, Indian Bay, NL.

As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Nicie's memory may be made to The Cook family. A decision on monetary disbursements will be made at a later date.
