Elisha James
Green
July 15, 1950 – February 25, 2026
With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Elisha James Green (Lish) on February 25, 2026, at the Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield.
Born on July 15, 1950, in Wareham, Lish was raised by his grandparents, Spencer and Beatrice Green, after the loss of his mother when he was just five months old. Lish's life was shaped by hardworking and always there to lend a hand. He dedicated 35 years at the Beothic Fish Plant. The proverb "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" truly reflects his life as he spend many days honing his skills at Business Pond, Back up Pond and Fair Island.
In 1972, Lish married Yvonne, and together they raised two daughters, Nicole and Amy, while embracing his stepson Michael as their own. His greatest joy was being a proud grandfather to his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment with them, teaching them to fish and playing games.
Lish leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years, Yvonne; son Michael Cutler (Kim) of Oshawa, ON; daughters Nicole Hoben (Vernon) of Carbonear and Amy Dumaresque (Jeff) of Wabush; grandchildren Heather (John), Dylan (Kelsey), Holly (Mitch), Ty, Ethan, and Bradley; great-grandchildren Bindi, Zoey, Maya, and Spencer. He is also survived by his brothers Ted (Gloria), Randy (Viola), Rodney (Neta); sisters Ethel Starkes, Josephine Winters (Derm Rogers), Gloria Dyke (Harry), Margo Brown (Robert), Rexine Rogers (Tom), June Farr (Warren), and Sylvia Sellon (Brian); mother-in-law Phyllis Cutler; brothers-in-law Gene Cutler (Nita), Ross Cutler (Angela); sisters-in-law Doris Pickett, Jill Pickett (Wilson), Joyce Brown (Mike), Verna Brown (Ike), and Linda Green, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and special friends, including Jesse & Jeanette Best, Munford Croucher and Khamphouk & Vilay Sihapanya.
Lish is predeceased by his grandparents Spencer and Beatrice Green, his father Frederick Green, mother Josephine Green (née Firmage), stepmother Maude Green, father-in-law Thomas Cutler, grandson Christopher Cutler, and siblings Robert Green and Beatrice Green, and brothers-in-law Ronald Pickett, Robert Winter, and Steven Starkes.
Visitation will be held at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2–4 P.M. and 7–9 P.M., and at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 2–4 P.M. and 7–9 P.M.and Sunday, March 1,2026 2 - 4 P.M.
