It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edgar Wells on July 30,
2024 at James Paton Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.

Edgar was born October 1, 1933 on Gooseberry Island to parents Alfred and Emma Wells.
He was one of their 11 children. When he was 10 his family resettled to the town of Trinity in
Bonavista Bay where he met his wife Dinah (Gibbons) and had 5 children together.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Emma; Special daughter-in-law Joette Wells;
Sister Blanche Brown, and brothers Caleb, Cecil, Walter, Harold, Lewis, Joseph and Wilfred;
Sister-in-law Annie (Nelson) Wiseman, and brother-in-laws Silas (Caroline) Gibbons, and
Owen Bungay.

Left with fond and loving memories, wife Dinah of 67 years; Sons Clayton (Darlene), and
Brian, daughters Julie Womack (Dan), Susan Matthews (Peter), Deanne Cox (Ed);
Grandchildren Adrian (Joni), Mark (Melissa), Christopher (Tess), Stephanie (Ryan), Alicia
(Kyle), Megan (Bradford), Zachary (Madison), Anissa (Kalem), Katelynn (Jaedon), and
Jacob. His 15 great-grand children.
Also left to mourn are his sister Hazel Bungay, and brother Bill (Mildred); Sisters-in-law Delilah Wells, Wendy Wells and Nellie Brown; Brothers-in-law Samuel Gibbons (Elizabeth) and Edgar Brown (Irene). Along with many nephews and nieces
and a large circle of friends.

Edgar was a man of many words. He was known for his sense of humour, quick wit and the
ability to be a jack of all trades. He enjoyed a good game of scrabble, card games and chats.
Edgar was an avid genealogist and traced his family roots back to the early 1500s and has
made connections with family all over the world. But above all else, he enjoyed spending
time with his family, friends and sharing stories.

Visitation will take place at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Trinity on Thursday, August 1,
2024 from 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm.
Service will take place at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Trinity on Friday, August 2, 2024 at
2 pm. with Rev. Renee Easton officiating.
Interment to follow at St. Alban's Anglican Cemetery in Trinity.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Edgar's memory may be made to the family. A decision on monetary disbursements will be made later.
