Edgar
Stagg
November 20, 1930 – November 7, 2024
It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather Edgar Joshua Stagg, who left us peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 93. He was surrounded by his family, whom he cherished deeply, at Bonnews Lodge.
Born on November 20, 1930 in Cape Freels, NL, Edgar made the Cape his home together with his parents and 8 siblings. He met and later married his wife of 69 years, Leon on December 10, 1952. Edgar was a man of great kindness, generosity, and wit. His presence in our lives was a steady source of guidance and support, and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.
Edgar was predeceased by his loving wife Leon (mam), son Larry, parents Gertrude and Joseph, siblings Oswald (Stella), Guy (Violet), James, Claire (Pearce Gibbons), Cassie (Cyril Blackmore), Amy (Ross Gibbons), Melina (Nathan Humphries) and Cyril (Matilda), parents in law George and Louisa Goodyear, siblings in law Trixie (Alexandar Goodyear), James (Mabel Goodyear), Mark Goodyear, Abram (Jean Goodyear). Edgar is survived by his daughter, Hilda (Edwin Gray), his grandchildren April (Greg), Wendy, Chad (Jenny), Dawn (Mike), Joy (Brandon), Kayla (CJ), Joshua (Rebecca), great-grandchildren Meagan, Rebecca, Tristen, Rachael, Emily, Charles, Colby, Alyssa, Jason, Chloe, Sarah, Oakley, Callen, Jesse and Dawson and great-great-grandchildren Hope, Gabriel, Juliette and Pheobe, daughter in law Judy (Keith), sisters in law Irene, Edna, Julia and a large circle of family and friends.
Edgar was a hard worker who always provided for his family from travelling afar sealing, logging, fishing with his brothers and son to in his later years tending to the garden in order to feed us all. He was known for his great love of berry picking, gardening and trouting. He loved socializing, having a yarn with his buddies up on the room or in someone's store. He loved a good game of darts or cards. His wit, singing and stories will be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to have known him. Above all, Edgar was a man with a big heart, a generous spirit and although a man of few words, we all knew how important we were to him and how loved we were.
