Cyril was born in Lumsden North and grew up and lived there until 1966 when Lumsden North was resettled. He fished with his father for several years. As a carpenter by trade, he worked in construction throughout NL for over 40 years. The highlight of his career was working on the Hibernia site in Bull Arm, where he spent the last 10 years of his career. He was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union and proudly served on the executive for 20 years. He was a big advocate in encouraging young carpenters to join the Union.
He was a friendly, inquisitive, witty, person who loved meeting new people and reconnecting with friends and family. He loved hearing people's life story and knowing their history.
Cyril was very knowledgeable about life at Lumsden North prior to resettlement. He remembered where everyone lived, who was related to whom, who fished with whom, he could recall the smallest details right down to people's horses names! Recently he has been referred to as the "Family Historian."
Cyril loved being out in nature, hunting and trouting, picking berries, and riding his quad on the beach. He was an avid crib player and researched just about everything on his iPad! Cyril loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
