It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Clarence Gilbert Davis age 72 years of Carmanville.
Predeceased by his parents; Beatrice and Clarence Davis, sisters; Brenda Janes and Rosalie O'Donnell, brother; Carl, father-in-law; Wilfred Norman, brother-in-law; Randy Norman and sister-in-law; Ann Janette Norman.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife; Joy, son; Curtis of Carmanville, brothers; Heber (Rose) of Gander and Hardy (Sandra) of Lewisporte, sister; Patricia (Junior Dawe) of Labrador City, brother-in-law; William O'Donnell, mother-in-law; Elsie Norman, brothers-in-law; Garrett (Cindy) Norman and Neal Norman (Amanda) and a large number of neices, nephews, family and friends.
Clarence was born in Pound Cove and lived there until he finished school. He then started work with Dept. of Highways. He later married Joy Norman from Lumsden and moved to Gander where he became manager of Sobey's Stores in Gander, Placentia and later to Lewisporte for 27 years. He moved back to Lumsden and set up his own business, " Davis' Convenience" for seven years. He then moved to Iqualit and worked at the Hudson Bay store for 2 years and then moved back to Carmanville and set up his own business "Clovers Farms" where he retired. He was a lover of nature and the outdoors and spent his time feeding the rabbits and birds, tending to his gardens, berry picking and in the woods . He was a man of few words but great compassion for human Nature.
Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove beginning on
Monday, December 18, 2023, 11am - 12noon (Family only) & 12noon - 1:30 (Public)
With funeral service to follow at 2pm with Rev. Lorne Bungay officiating. Inurnment will follow at the United Church cemetery, Lumsden.
As an expression of sympathy and in his memory, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to The Davis Family who will decide on monetary disbursements later.
