With great sadness, we announce the passing of Catherine Marie Sexton, who passed away peacefully at the Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre on Sunday, August 30, 2026, after a long but strong and courageous battle with cancer.

Catherine was born to Norman and Winnie Squire on June 6, 1960 in Sandringham, Newfoundland. Catherine lived in Eastport for the first few years of her life before moving to Valleyfield, Newfoundland. She gave birth to her daughter, Coralynn, on August 29, 1978 at Brookfield Hospital followed by her son, Jeffery on February 23, 1982 also at Brookfield Hospital. Catherine dedicated 42 years of her life to working at Beothic Fish. She was devoted to her job and worked in various roles throughout the years, from making boxes to being part of the cleanup crew. She loved every minute of her time there.Catherine loved baking, there was always something sweet and freshly baked to enjoy. She also loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts for herself and her family members, who will always cherish having a piece of her with them. She also loved the great outdoors and enjoyed snowshoeing, boil-ups and often accompanying her loving husband Eugene cutting wood. Her family and her dogs were her light and her happiness and she loved them dearly.

Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband; Eugene of Badger's Quay, her daughter; Coralynn of Valleyfield, her son; Jeffery (Amanda) of Fort McMurray, her brother; Bruce (Sam), her sister; Olive (Lew), her grandchildren; Joey (Austin), Judah, Arielle, Eva and her great-grandchildren; Connor, Colton, and Amelia. Catherine will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove

Tuesday, September 1 , 2026 at 7 P.M. - 9 P.M. for Family and Close Friends Only

 Public visitation on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. & 7 P.M. - 9 P.M. 

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 2 P.M. at The Memorial United Church, Valleyfield with Rev. George Kean officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Cathy's memory to The Newfoundland Cancer Foundation.
