Obituary

Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander, on Wednesday October 17th, 2018, Aubrey George Hunt of Centreville, aged 84 years.

Predeceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth Hunt, brother Joseph Y. Hunt, his adopted brother David Firmage and infant sisters Alice Frances and Alice Joyce. Also predeceased by sisters-in-law Esther Lane (Leo deceased) and Lucy Pickett (Chesley deceased).

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Shirley, daughters Darlene Wells (Clayton), Marlene John (Chris) and son Dawson (Sharon), grandsons Adrian Wells (Joni), Mark Wells, Michael John, and great grandson Alex; granddaughters Justine Hunt, Elizabeth John, Thara McKay, Kaila McKay, Danielle Hunt and great granddaughters Lilly, Serenity, Aliyah and Averie; sisters-in-law Rosie Pickett (Raymond deceased), Minnie Hunt (Mithford deceased), Emily Pickett (Silas deceased), Zillah Saunders (Percy deceased), Mary Hunt (George deceased), Edith Cook (Gary) and Evelyn Firmage, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Aubrey was born on Fair Island, Bonavista Bay and was resettled to Centreville in 1960. He went back to Fair Island every summer and declared it was the best place on earth. He loved to sing and play guitar, especially Wilf Carter songs. He was an avid outdoorsman and always knew where to find the best berries and the biggest fish. He loved Newfoundland and never wanted to travel far from her shores. He will be remembered for his stories and songs and the amazing love he showed for his family. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will take place at St. Barnabas Church, Centreville on Friday, October19th from 12 noon to 9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 10:30 a.m. from St. Barnabas Church with Rev. Daphne Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at St.Barnabas Church Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Aubrey's memory may be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Centreville or a charity of one's choice.
